{"id":4769,"date":"2026-09-22T09:39:50","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T07:39:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/galmallorca.org\/?p=4769"},"modified":"2026-09-22T09:43:30","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T07:43:30","slug":"spanish-flags-defend-community-led-local-development-in-fishing-areas-at-the-senate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/galmallorca.org\/en\/spanish-flags-defend-community-led-local-development-in-fishing-areas-at-the-senate\/","title":{"rendered":"Spanish FLAGs defend community-led local development in fishing areas at the Senate"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spain&#8217;s Fisheries Local Action Groups (FLAGs) presented a common position before the Senate in support of the Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) approach and the continuation of European funding for coastal communities.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During a session of the Senate Fisheries Committee, the managers of FLAG Mar de l&#8217;Ebre and FLAG R\u00eda de Pontevedra, Joan Alginet Aliau and Laura Nieto Zas, appeared on behalf of the 44 FLAGs operating along the Spanish coast to highlight their contribution to the sustainable development of fishing areas and to warn about the risks posed by proposed reforms to the European budget beyond 2027.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their intervention, they stressed the need to maintain stable funding through the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) and to preserve a governance model that allows actions to be tailored to the specific realities of each territory.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FLAG representatives noted that 2,645 projects have been implemented across the Spanish coastline during the current programming period, with 96% of the allocated funds already executed.
