The event will take place at the headquarters of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (Muelle Viejo, 5, Palma), instead of the Maritime Museum as initially announced.<\/p>\n\n<p>Organized by the <strong>Comunidad SABE<\/strong> \u2014an interdisciplinary network promoting the transition to a more ecological, fair, and sustainable food system\u2014 the event is supported by the <strong>Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation<\/strong>, the <strong>Oceanographic Centre of the Balearic Islands<\/strong>, and <strong>GALP Mallorca<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Under the title <em>\u201cScience and Sustainable Food: Local Networks for a Future in Fishing\u201d<\/em>, the event will focus on the resilience of artisanal and local fishing. Through a dialogue between science and practice, we will explore the climatic, social, and economic challenges facing the Mallorcan and Mediterranean fishing sector, as well as sustainable solutions emerging from collaboration between researchers and those who live from the sea.<\/p>\n\n<p>The central theme of the meeting will be the <strong>VADAPES II<\/strong> study, led by Dr. <strong>Marta Albo<\/strong>, researcher at the Oceanographic Centre of the Balearic Islands. Conducted in close collaboration with artisanal fishers on the island, the study identifies key challenges for the Mallorcan fishing sector. During the event, Marta will engage in conversation with fishers and representatives from the fish marketing sector, offering a complementary perspective between scientific knowledge and local experience.
